On December 8, 2024, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) announced the list of new Fellows for the Year of 2025. Associate Professor Liu Jiaying from Wang Xuan Institute of Computer Technology, Peking University was selected as an IEEE Fellow.
Liu Jiaying has long been engaged in research on Intelligent Media Computing and Visual Understanding. She has published over 100 papers in IEEE/ACM Transactions and CCF-A classified journals/conferences, accumulating over 20,000 Google Scholar citations. This includes 6 ESI Highly Cited Papers. She holds more than 70 granted Chinese invention patents and 4 granted US invention patents.She serves as an APSIPA Distinguished Lecturer, a CCF Distinguished Member, a member of the IEEE CASS MSA Technical Committee and the Secretary-General of the CSIG Technical Committee on Multimedia. She holds editorial board positions for journals including IEEE Trans. on Image Processing, IEEE Trans.on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology and IEEE Multimedia Magazine. She is a member of the Steering Committee for both IEEE ICME and ACM ICMR, and also served on the Best Paper Award Committees for the JVCI Journal, ACM MM 2022, and IEEE ICIP 2021. Her major conference roles include: General Chair of ACM MM Asia 2024; Program Chair of ACM MM Asia 2023, ACM ICMR 2021, IEEE ICME 2021 and IEEE VCIP 2019; Area Chair for CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, and AAAI.Her awards include the Beijing Municipal Technology Invention Award (Second Class), the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Class), recognition in the Outstanding Faculty Award Program for Computer Science in Higher Education, the CSIG Shi Qingyun Women Scientist Award, the Peking University Teaching Excellence Award and Wang Xuan Young Scholar Award. She also received the Best Paper Award at IEEE ICME 2020. The global MOOC course she teaches has been designated as one of the Ministry of Education's inaugural National Top-Quality Online Open Courses and one of the first National First-Class Undergraduate Courses.
