Topic: Aniketos – Secure and Trustworthy Composite Services

Abstract - The Future Internet will provide an environment in which a diverse range of services is offered by various suppliers; and users are likely to unknowingly invoke underlying services in a dynamic and ad hoc manner. Moving from today’s static services, we foresee service consumers that transparently mix and match service components depending on service availability, quality, price and security attributes. Thus, the applications that end users see may be composed of multiple services from many different providers, and the end user may have little in the way of guarantee that a particular service or service supplier will actually offer the security claimed.

Aniketos is about establishing and maintaining trustworthiness and secure behaviour in a constantly changing service environment. The project aligns existing and develops new technology, methods, tools and security services that support the design-time creation and run-time dynamic behaviour of composite services, addressing service developers, service providers and service end users. The project constructs a platform for creating and maintaining secure and trusted composite services.

In this talk I will cover the background and technical aspects of the Aniketos project, as well as share my experiences of studying and working in the UK.

About the presenter: Bo Zhou is a Lecturer in Network Security at Liverpool John Moores University in the UK. He received his BSc in Telecommunications from the Northeastern University of China in 2002, before he moved to the UK. Bo obtained his PhD in 2007 from the Liverpool John Moores University, after which he worked as a researcher in both academia and industry, including taking the role of Senior Researcher at the Founder Group. In November 2010, he joined a European Project of Aniketos looking at Secure and Trustworthy Composite Services.

Research Areas: Intrusion Detection System; Digital Rights Management; Security Management System; Secure Component Composition.
