摘要:The integrated management of digital media poses a variety of challenges: it may be available at different locations, disparate, come in multiple natural languages, and occur in different modalities. With scenarios covering sensor data, social media, online news, and television, we will demonstrate a tool box of semantic and machine-learning methods to extract machine-readable knowledge from multilingual, multimedia and social media content and integrate it with cross-lingual, cross-media knowledge bases. The discussed methods include real-time integration and reasoning as well as semantic annotation, semantic search, and entity summarization.

In the beginning, we will outline selected research activities at Institutes AIFB and KSRI at KIT as well as at FZI.

主讲人简介:Rudi Studer is Full Professor in Applied Informatics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Institute AIFB. In addition, he is director at the Karlsruhe Service Research Institute (KSRI) as well as at the FZI Research Center for Information Technology. His research interests include knowledge management, semantic web technologies and applications, data and text mining, big data and service engineering.

He obtained a Diploma in Computer Science at the University of Stuttgart in 1975. In 1982 he was awarded a Doctor's degree in Mathematics and Informatics at the University of Stuttgart, and in 1985 he obtained his Habilitation in Informatics at the University of Stuttgart. From 1985 to 1989 he was project leader and manager at the Scientific Center of IBM Germany.

He is involved in various national projects, among others the Transregional Collaborative Research Centre 'Cognition-Guided Surgery' and international cooperation projects, among others the EU projects XLike (Cross-lingual Knowledge Extraction) and xLiMe (Crosslingual and Crossmedia Knowledge Extraction) as well as Proasense (the Procactive Sensing Enterprise) and i-VISION (Immersive Semantics-based Virtual Environments). He is a member of the advisory board of IEEE Intelligent Systems as well as a fellow of Semantic Technologies Institute International.
